The Sibenik Cathedral begins to tell its story in a new way through the Civitas Sacra - "Holy City" Interpretation Center, which opened on Monday at the newly renovated Galbiani Palace in the heart of Sibenik's Old Town. It is an imposing, state-of-the-art building whose contents are dedicated to interpreting the all-important significance of the Sibenik's capital, which has found its place on the UNESCO list of cultural monuments.
The project is co-financed by the European Union and the Republic of Croatia with a total amount of approximately 36.4 million HRK, of which almost 31 million HRK was secured from the European Regional Development Fund, and the remaining sum was largely raised by the Diocese of Sibenik and other partners in the project.
The opening ceremony was attended by many guests, including Andrej Plenkovic, Croatian Prime Minister, Gabriela Zalac, Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds, Nina Obuljen Korzinek, Minister of Culture, Hrvoje Zekanovic, Member of Parliament, Tomislav Petric, Director of the Central Financing Agency and contracting of EU programs and projects (SAFU), Tajana Pleše, Director of the Croatian Restoration Institute, Monsignor Janusz Stanisław Błachowiak, Chargé d'Affaires of the Apostolic Nunciature in the Republic of Croatia, Ms Mate Uzinić, Bishop of Dubrovnik, Monsignor Josip Lekić, Envoy of the Archbishop of Zadar and President HBK) and Head of Culture of HBK, Monsignor Ante Ivas, Bishop of Peace in Sibenik, Goran Pauk, Mayor of Šibenik-Knin, Željko Burić, Mayor of Šibenik, Directors of City Institutions and Institutions, Priests and Nuns of the Šibenik Diocese and representatives of the project implementers "Civitas sacra "from start to finish.
